It is recommended that you continue with your scheduled six-monthly dental check-ups at our clinic during orthodontic treatment. On average, the orthodontist will see you every 6-8 weeks to check that treatment is progressing smoothly and also to do any necessary adjustments to your orthodontic appliance.
However, they may not necessarily detect early tooth decay or other common dental problems such as gum disease as this is not their primary focus.
At times during your orthodontic treatment, you may need to be seen more frequently by a dentist and/or hygienist at our clinic as your orthodontic appliance might increase your risk of developing gum problems or decay. Thus, regular dental check-ups and hygiene sessions in conjunction with your orthodontic appointments are very important to maintain good oral health.
