Comprising dentists, dental hygienists and support staff, their aim is to make your experience as a patient as positive as possible. To help you get to know them better here is a little information about our dentists and hygienists.
Unley Park Dental Clinic has been a part of the local Unley community since the mid-1980s. Practice Principal, Dr Ben Sharpe, bought the business in 2010 and has set about modernising the entire practice to put the experience for each patient at the centre of everything Unley Park Dental Clinic does. This patient first approach underscores the way that each Unley Park Dental Clinic team member works and Interacts with each individual patient. The extensive experience of the professional staff is also complemented by strong relationships with specialists to ensure optimum comprehensive care and a seamless experience for every patient.
Ben Sharpe
Dentist
Ben Graduated from Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2005. Ben has been the principal dentist at Unley Park Dental Clinic since 2010. Prior to this time Ben has practiced in Tasmania, the Adelaide Hills and Unley. Ben has a strong focus on continuing education and keeps up to date with the best technology and treatments available. Ben’s philosophy towards dentistry is to provide excellent preventative care and high quality treatments to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. Ben and his wife Joyce Vun have 3 adorable children. Ben is a devoted family man and his fun loving approach is appreciated by the many children and their parents who attend his practice.
Joyce Vun
Dentist
Joyce graduated from Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2004 and has successfully undertaken further dental studies. Joyce, a Principal Dentist at the Unley Park Dental Clinic since 2010, enjoys travelling and cooking with her husband and 3 children. Originally from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia (Borneo), Joyce has worked in dental practices in Tasmania, Plympton and Morphett Vale before acquiring Unley Park Dental Clinic with her husband Ben. Joyce has a broad range of dental experience and skills – her friendly, caring approach can make even the most anxious patient feel at ease. Joyce is also quite the linguist and is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka and Malay.
Jemma Woolford
Extended Care Oral Health Therapist - BOH (Adel), GCertOralHlthSc (Adel)
Jemma joined the team at Unley Park Dental Clinic in 2011. She has experience working in both private and public dental clinics across Adelaide and regional South Australia. Early in her career she was involved in a program for the provision of dental services to incarcerated youth. Jemma graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Oral Health and then a Graduate Certificate in Oral Health Science. She has an extended scope of practice which includes adult examination and restorative treatment.
Jemma’s clinical approach is holistic, gentle and caring. She enjoys helping patients to understand the links between their general health and their oral health. She prioritises the preventive aspect of her role and loves to have a chat to help patients reach their dental goals.
Jemma is also a proud mum and loves the never ending surprises and entertainment this brings. She looks forward to meeting you and your family and hearing your story.
Rob Cox
Dentist
Dr Robert Cox graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2005, gaining experience in all aspects of dentistry while initially serving in the Royal Australian Air Force for over five years. He worked in rural private practice in Victoria, before moving to Melbourne in 2012. There he spent 10 years in private practice before relocating back to Adelaide early 2022.
With a caring and friendly approach, Dr Cox has an interest in preventive and minimally invasive dentistry, focusing on high quality restorative and cosmetic outcomes specific to each individuals’ needs. Dr Cox regularly engages in continuing professional development to stay up to date with the latest techniques & is an active member of the Australian Dental Association.
Away from the dental chair Robert enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two young children.
Irene Park
Oral Health Therapist - BOH Sc LaTrobe
Irene graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health Science from La Trobe University in 2020. She is a qualified Oral Health Therapist (OHT) with an extended scope of practice. At Unley Park Dental, she provides treatments including simple restorative dentistry, dental hygiene, and check-ups for all ages. She has a particular interest in preventive dentistry, pediatric dentistry, community health promotion, and cosmetic teeth whitening. Her aim is to provide a comfortable experience for every client during each visit, especially for those with dental anxiety. Irene communicates with her clients to understand their needs and places great emphasis on a gentle and caring touch.
Born in Seoul, Korea, and migrated to Australia in 2007, she speaks fluent English, Korean, and basic Japanese. In her spare time, Irene likes to visit art studios with her church friends to create something new to decorate her room. She also enjoys boxing, barre, and pilates.
